Job Description


Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa. .

JOB TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER, REF: YUL/HRO/13/08/2020, Buikwe
REPORTING TO THE EMPLOYEE RELATIONS MANAGER, THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL;
• Help employees understand the company Policies.
• Ensure daily staff attendance, shift schedules and all leaves taken are updated in a timely manner.
• Liaise with Employee Relations Manager to cross check attendance reports, where need be rectifying and handling absenteeism cases.
• Ensure staff overtime data is compiled and submitted to Employee Relations Manager payment.
• Conduct routine manpower Site checks to ensure all staff comply with established policies and procedures, following up and resolving of issues at Site.
• Ensure all employees adhere and comply with PPE (Personnel Protective Equipment) requirements.
• Receive employees’ leave applications, updating same and making a follow up.
• Advise and help the Line Managers on human resource related issues and to deal with employees at Site.
• Attend to minor disciplinary issues, help in enforcing discipline among employees and generating incident and accident reports to be submitted to Employee Relations Manager.
• Performing any other duties assigned from time to time.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES
• • Integrity, flexible, good interpersonal skills, effective communication, problem solving, counseling and decision making skills. Should have a positive attitude, self-driven, result focused, creative, innovative, can work for long hours and under pressure with minimum supervision..

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Organizational Psychology; Management Studies, Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration and other related disciplines
• • A post graduate diploma or Masters in Human Resource Management is an added advantage
• • 2 and above years of experience in Human Resource section.
• • Knowledge of existing labour laws and attitudinal/employee engagement surveys
• • Knowledge of all HR cycle functions
