Direct Manager: Country Manager

Job Purpose
To ensure that the division benefits from the lowest possible equipment operating costs with the highest possible vehicle uptime. To ensure that all legal, SHEQ and maintenance policies are adhered to and maintained within the region.

Educational Qualifications
• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.

• Experience Requirements
• 5 years hands on fleet maintenance experience of which 3 years must be in supervising or managing workshop and fleet
• Preferable to be a qualified Diesel Motor Mechanic.

• Key Job Responsibilities
• Maintenance Procedures and Performance
• Setting and implementation of maintenance budgets and cost control measures.
• Ensuring compliance to maintenance and SHEQ standards and procedures
• Ensuring fleet is maintained to manufacturer’s specifications
• Ensuring fleet and container appearance adheres to corporate standards
• Liaising and negotiating with key suppliers on warrantee claims, servicing etc.
• Undertaking of regular equipment audits
• Ongoing evaluation of service and pricing of suppliers to ensure that the Fleet is maintained to the correct level but at the most reasonable price.
• Ensure optimal fleet availability and reduced down time.
• Fleet Replacement
• Adherence to fleet replacement policy
• Assisting in developing Fleet specification for new fleet
• Refurbishment of handling equipment
• Tyre Control
• Setting of tyre cost budgets
• Implementation of budget and cost control measures
• Setting of tyre standards, procedures and controls
• Liaison with suppliers
• Undertaking of regular equipment audits
• Ensuring that scrapping of tyres is done in conjunction with a tyre manufacturer or Retreader
• Reporting
• Preparing of Maintenance, Tyre, Equipment and Operating budgets .
• Preparing of Monthly Cost and Performance Reports on Maintenance, Tyres and Bins.
• Preparing monthly reports as required from time to time. Binshop
• Ensuring that all waste bins or tanks are in safe working order and are painted and branded as per the Company’s policy
• Manage the repair and painting of containers in accordance with the SHEQ and Legal regulations
• Assist in accurate Bin census’s on a regular basis and action repairs or disposals
• Ensure that containers are procured, refurbished, replaced or disposed as per requirements and policies.
• Ensure that all off site repairs on Static Compactors are done in accordance with policies and all associated paper work is done and passed on to relevant departments.
• Management Functions
• Attending and presenting at monthly Maintenance Meetings
• Attending the Monthly Operations and Commercial Meetings and daily maintenance and operations meetings
• Attending management / employee representative meetings and SHEQ meetings.
• Ensuring regular and accurate communication between operations and maintenance departments
• Ensuring that all relevant paperwork is completed accurately and timeously
• Managing employee performance according to group HR policy
• Assisting the Commercial department in equipment specifications for tenders and large quotes such as those pertaining to Static Compactors.
