Lycamobile is the largest Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in the world offering wireless phone service in 24 countries, with 15 million+ subscriber base, 10,000 headcount and a portfolio of 30+ mobile partners.

Lyca is currently seeking a Head of National Retail Sales for Uganda based out of Kampala to lead and manage the entire sales, distribution and business development functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Win, develop relationships with and achieve distribution of Lyca products through national and retail chain stores in a b2b sales format using key account management and business development skills
  • Aggressively prospect, identify, qualify, develop sales pipeline, and user scale; create an account management strategy and plan to deliver new cross-selling and upselling potential opportunities.
  • During the first year, this role will operate as a one-person team, managing all contact and cultivation of chain store retailers.
  • While reporting directly to the Group VP – Sales in London HQ and the country team, in a matrix structure with broad authority to propose/develop sales and marketing programs setting the strategy and tactics to deliver KPIs/targets based on the commercial go-to-market (GTM) approach
  • Prepare periodic sales forecasts, maintaining/updating sales pipeline and tracking performance of channel partners
  • Provide sales reports, forecasts and key metric reporting, while maintaining/updating sales pipeline and tracking performance of channel partners effectively communicating this with stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Drive and improve sales process through calls and onsite meetings, RFP responses, negotiations, and contracting.

Skills and experience requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in national retail or regional chain store sales with a proven track record. Telecom background preferred.
  • Prior responsibility for development of strategic go-to-market plan including segmentation, competitive analysis/positioning, account targeting, account and territory strategy and coverage; routes to market, partner alliance and rollout strategy in b2b, b2c or b2b2c environments.
  • Solid customer service attitude with excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, analytical, negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Capable of building strong relationships and credibility across the firm, as well as with broad range of customers.
  • A clear, concise communicator and a compelling storyteller—able to convey information effectively across the board; and present solutions to client needs.
  • Possess the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, change-oriented market environment.
  • Self-Motivated, team oriented, goal oriented and strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
