Job Description
The National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries mandated to take a leading role in establishing a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda. The agency wishes to recruit the following;

Reporting To: Deputy Technical Manager Production
Overall Job Purpose:
To foster sustainable increase in volumes and quality of pastures and feed resources at all the centres for cost effective ruminant and nonruminant breeding, reproduction and production of animal genetic resources.
Age Limit: 25-45 Years
Specific Responsibilities
• Establish nutritional needs of the different animals at their various physiological stages
• Test feeds/feed samples and feeding methods to learn /ascertain and formulate what nourishes all animals and fish on the farm efficiently and economically to maximise growth, reproduction and health. iii. Write reports on feeding/feeding habits of all animals and fish on the farm.
• Minimises waste for environmental consideration through promoting adaptation of climate smart technologies.
• Undertake forage seed validation and multiplication at each production unit vi. Develop, design and implement projects and programs for enhanced animal breeding, reproduction and production through improved nutrition vii. Coordinate forage establishment, improvement and maintenance
• Coordinate water harvesting, utilization and distribution
• Coordinate and undertake training and demonstration in feeds and feeding technologies for Managers, Veterinarians and other workers.
• Ensure proficient resource utilization and management xi. Conduct nutritional evaluation and careful use of local forages and non conventional feeds stuffs
• Undertake any other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor
Basic Requirements
• A degree in Animal Science with postgraduate training in Animal Nutrition as a prerequisite.
• Working experience of at least three (03) years in a related field gained from a reputable organization/institution
