JOB DETAILS:

POSITION: Planning and Reporting Manager
REPORTS TO: Head Finance
DEPARTMENT: Finance
LOCATION: Bugolobi, Kampala

Job Summary

The Planning and Reporting Manager will be responsible for carrying out analysis and reporting aspects of finance operations management for Grain pulse including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, across the business pillar operations. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical abilities, exceptional problem-solving skills a flair for numbers, highly organized processes, and excellent leadership experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Co-ordination and review of budget / monthly & quarterly forecasts to ensure that the company’s objectives are reflected in the same.
• Challenge and ensure clear action plans are in place to ensure validity of the planning processes to deliver budget, Performance Improvement Plans & strategic plans for the business unit.
Preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial reports (Key financial ratios based on Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss and Cash flow statements) for internal management decision-making for Grainpulse Limited. This is to be preceded by
Analysis and reconciliation of the trial balance to the management accounts that will involve challenging information provided as well as advise corrective measures to be taken to resolve any outstanding unreconciled items. The sources of reporting are the Cost of Production report from the plant, Sales and Volumes reports from commercial, SGA reports, Fixed Assets report and the trial balance.
Perform detailed analysis of the monthly overall performance files and Quarterly Business Reviews ensuring consistency of information with other reports e.g. Sales & Volumes, Navision etc. to advise management on corrective actions and enable decision making.
Lead all project feasibility study on a financial perspective to ensure the accuracy and consistency of assumptions as well as related financial KPIs
• Challenge the period end process to ensure correct and timely posting of transactions through review of balance sheet (reconciliations/ inventories, movement, etc.) ensuring appropriate action is taken where required.
Develop accounts reconciliations, journal entries, data compilation and analyses ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of accounts including actual, reforecast, inter company, notes etc.
Coordinate the process of external and internal audits by providing the necessary support to deliver the audit in time.
• Perform troubleshoots on all financial reports, completed audits, identified trends to determine improvement plans.
Perform accounting controls by executing policies and managed assigned balance sheet accounts, perform account reconciliations and make necessary corrections.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• The ideal candidate must possess a First Degree in a business-related field. Professional Accounting qualification in CPA (K), ACCA, ACA, and ACMA is an added advantage.
• He or she must have at least 3 years finance management work experience.
• Experience in FMCG is an added advantage.
• The ideal candidate must be in possession with the necessary strong technical accounting skills and ideally with some experience in reporting and controlling.
• The ideal candidate must have the ability to hold others to account and exercise good judgement – know when to have a light touch and when to intervene.
• He or she must also be a skilled communicator, with well-developed verbal, written and presentation ability.
• The ideal candidate must have exposure to working in multicultural/multilingual environments.
