Job Description
The role is responsible for managing the procurement function and support inventory management off all sites to ensure total adherence to sound procurement standards. The position holder will manage under the rules, regulations and guidelines of BPIL while ensuring the accomplishment of goals and targets set by Management.
Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate the procurement functions in accordance with approved policies and procedures to meet business needs
• Custodian of and to ensure and enforce that adequate procurement policies, systems and processes and controls are in place
• Ensure optimum levels of raw materials and consumable stocks at all times to support the business needs
• Identify and manage reliable key sources of supply and updated market supply data
• Perform procurement and contracting activities including pre-qualification, tender management, negotiation and preparation of contracts.
• Monitor and manage supplier price data base to ensure efficient pricing
• Through the use of the procurement tracker Monitor orders and receipt turnaround times
• Developing procurement strategies that are inventive and cost-effective
• Monitor vendor supply performance to ensure compliance with all agreed terms and conditions
• Weekly production stock monitoring and stock reports for Feed mill and abattoir (Consumption, stock turn, days stock on hand, deliveries expected)
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Supervise the procurement officer
• Any other business as may be assigned by the Supervisor

Person Specification
Education, Training, Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or business administration.
• At Least three years as procurement officer heading up the total procurement function in a medium sized organization
• Procurement/Inventory management
Team Management
• Ability to implement/improve procurement systems
• Computer literacy especially stock procurement and accounting systems and procedures
• Interpersonal skills-laterally and vertically
• Planning and Reporting skills
• Communication skills
• I.T skills
Attitude/ Motivation
• Value adding (willingness to go an extra mile for BPIL, staff & customers).
