CRS has worked in Uganda since 1965, initially providing emergency assistance to Sudanese refugees living in the north. Over the years, CRS has expanded its programming to also address development needs in western, central and eastern Uganda. CRS’ projects in Uganda currently include agriculture, health, microfinance, peace building and youth. CRS Uganda implements its programs through partnerships with local organizations, including the Catholic Church, other faith-based organizations and community entities for maximum impact and sustainability.

Job Summary:

The Program Manager I — Homes and Communities will manage programming for the CRS Uganda Homes and Communities pilot and scale up in both Kyangwali and Bidibidi Refugee Settlements, designing, implementing and growing the project as results from the pilot are understood. Your management skills and knowledge will ensure that the Country Program delivers high-quality programming and continuously works towards improving the impact of its programming.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Catholic Relief Services Program Manager I — Homes and Communities job must hold a Master’s Degree in International Development, International Relations or related field required. Additional experience may substitute for some education.
  • At least two years of relevant field-based experience in coordinating or managing light to moderately complex projects required, preferably with an international NGO.
  • Project management experience in remote management settings.
  • Proven experience in proposal development and resource mobilization.
  • Experience engaging with partner organizations.
  • Experience contributing to the development of technical proposals.
  • MEAL skills and experience preferred.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems.
  • Languages Strong written and verbal communication skills in English with ability to write technical reports.
