Job Description


Knowledge, Skills & Competences
• You have an excellent vision and understanding of current global issues,
• You are an excellent unifier and facilitator,
• You have in-depth knowledge of project management methodologies,
• You can develop and manage inter-institutional relations (networking),
• You have excellent skills in coordinating, leading and mobilising various players and partners,
• You are result-oriented,
• Considering the working language of Uganda and the International environment, excellent knowledge of English is required;
• You must also have a working /passive knowledge of both written and spoken French and/or also be willing to continue on the learning curve of French within the first 12 months of employment and thereafter.
• You are fully prepared to work abroad in our present and future partner countries, and in particular to work in difficult contexts, after your post in Uganda.

Responsibilities
• You coordinate all Pillar 2 projects in the country concerned, in collaboration with the Project Managers and the various partners involved in these projects,
• You will also coordinate a number of transversal experts, such as our gender and refugee expert, who work across all projects (including Pillar 1 projects)
• You lead the teams of which you are the supervisor,
• You ensure operational excellence and inspire your teams to think outside the box and achieve concrete results,
• You are responsible for the integration of the various projects and, in particular, for ensuring that they work well together and that synergy is optimised and resources are pooled,
• You ensure optimal use of available resources whilst having our rules and procedures respected,
• You lead, together with the country director, the partnerships with key donors, such as the Embassy of Belgium and European Union, as well with the Government of Uganda
• You are spokesperson for the organisation, able to represent the country director at key functions
• In addition to operational management, you also contribute to strategic thinking to support our approach in Uganda, or more widely.

Qualifications
• A Master’s level degree.

Details of experience
• 10 years convincing experience of international project management, whether in the international development sector or the private sector,
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in managing either Health or Education related projects;
• At least 5 years’ of experience in team management,
• Professional experience in a multicultural environment;
• Experience in the management of multi- million projects;
• Experience in the management of different donors like the European Union and Belgium
