Job Description
Uganda Heart Institute (UHI) is established by the Uganda Heart UHI received joint loans from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), OPEC Fund for International Development (OPEC❘ Fund) and the Saudi Fund for Development(SFD) for the proposed Construction and Equipping of Uganda Heart Institute Project.
For the Construction and Equipping of Uganda Heart Institute Project, UHI intends to recruit a Civil Engineer.
Contract Duration 3 years (36 months)
Job purpose:
Responsible for monitoring and supervision of the construction works and equipping of Uganda Heart Institute Project
Duties:
In accordance with the project objectives, the project Engineer shall; –
• Approve works and prepare certificates for payment to the contractor
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geological data for the plan projects
• Monitor progress and ensure conformance to design and specifications and including health and safety of workers and the public
• Direct or participate in surveying to lay out installations and establish reference points, grades and elevations to guide construction scheduled and within the cost and able to meet quality expectations
• Prepare and submit reports to the project coordinator
• Conduct joint measurement of works with the consultant team
• Certify on the certificates
• Raise any technical issues that require to be addressed through the consultant
• Review technical reports from the consultant
Person Specifications
• Must be a Registered or Chattered Civil/Structural Engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution with at least seven (7) years of post registration experience.
• Must have successfully supervised a hospital building project of not less than USD 20 million or similar building projects
• He/She must be registered with the relevant professional body (Engineers registration Board- ERB for Uganda)
• The Candidate should be familiar with the governing structural design codes in the Country and building control Act 2013 and its regulations.
