Job Description


ROLE PURPOSE:
The Project Coordinator Livelihood shall fulfil various duties and responsibilities while working closely with project manager/officers, formulating comprehensive livelihood implementation plans concerning resources, budget and timeframes for projects. S/he will perform various coordinating tasks including stakeholder management, risk management, maintaining project documentation and handling financial queries along with administrative duties.

THE ROLE
Key areas of accountability include:
Programme Planning and Execution
• Lead the development of relevant and sustainable livelihood intervention strategies in Moroto context
• Prepare detailed implementation plan (DIP), phased budget, procurement plan, risks and mitigation plan, communication plan, community engagement plan, Activity Tracking Tools with regards to the livelihood component of the project,
Lead the engagement with the field stakeholders to conduct the geographic targeting and selection of vulnerable community members in given watersheds to benefit from the project according to the criteria provided in the project document and profile the beneficiaries for outcome tracking.

Representation, Advocacy and Organizational Learning
• Coordinate with all concerned staff to develop and implement learning agenda and communication plan as appropriately, ensure all communication materials are in place.
• Participate in coordination meetings and share progress on Livelihoods with stakeholders in the project area (i.e., partners, district authorities, village heads, chiefs and other implementing agencies).
• Strengthen network and linkages with financial service providers, micro and small enterprise development agencies, and other relevant stakeholders to broaden livelihood of beneficiaries.
• Documentation and sharing of evidence and lessons learnt.

MEAL
• Coordinate with MEAL team to ensure that all livelihood indicators are captured correctly in the MEAL plan and included in the Indicator Performance Tracking Tools (IPPT) and Post Distribution Monitoring are all conducted timely;
• Coordinate closely with MEAL during the baseline, midterm and end line evaluations to ensure the objectives of the livelihood component are fully captured in the tools and well analysed for the indicators required to be tracked;
• With the support of the PM, conduct regular quarterly review meetings with stakeholders to review project implementation progress,
• Take lead responsibility on any accountability issues raised and seek appropriate ways of addressing them on a timely manner,
• Support proper documentation of Livelihood activities conducted –case studies, best practices, voices of beneficiaries, etc.- and submit weekly progress reports on the planned implementation activities to PM

To be a strong supporter and advocate for children in this role you will need to have:
• At least a bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, animal science, economics, community development or other related fields.
• At least 5 years’ experience in youth/adult livelihoods enhancing programmes
• Experience in delivering training to community-based staffs
• Experience in working with local NGO partners
• Strong understanding of small and micro enterprise, education and agro-pastoral skills training in a rural setting preferably in Karamoja region
• Experience in career counselling in livelihoods related enterprise
• Excellent professional use of oral and written English
• Strong leadership skills including ability to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
• A good understanding of best practices, techniques for achieving and sustaining youth’s positive engagement
