Job Description


The IRC is seeking a Project Manager (short – term for a period of 3 months), based in Kampala, for a multi-country multi-stakeholder urban livelihoods Re:Build project. The project began with a 6 month co-design phase focused on bringing together a diverse range of partners with the objective of identifying locally-valued solutions to achieve transformative and enduring change in the field of refugee livelihoods in East Africa; initially in Kenya and Uganda but with a plan to expand to Ethiopia.

The Project Manager will support the day-to-day implementation and running of the project co-design phase in Kampala, Uganda. The Project Manager will be the main focal point for community-based organizations (CBO) partners and municipal actors. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead consolidation of additional inputs/ideas from stakeholders into proposal writing process
  • Provide inputs into the technical design and writing of the project proposal
  • Participate in project design meetings
  • Coordinate and monitor the day-to-day implementation of all inception activities for the project and maintain quality and adherence to IRC and donor requirements and standards
  • Oversee progress and spending in project tools, including work plan, spending plan, and procurement plan, ensuring collaboration and coordination with Finance, Supply Chain, Human Resource, Grants and IT departments
  • Support ERD Coordinator to provide technical and operational inputs to codesign. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in international relations, economics, social science, human rights, or related field required.
  • Minimum of five years professional experience in economic or related programming, applying technical expertise in livelihoods and economic recovery.
  • Experience in organizing and planning multi stakeholder consultations/meetings/workshops
  • Experience implementing large and complex, multi-partner, multi-year international economic recovery and development projects
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English
  • Adept at planning and budgeting
  • Highly motivated, possesses strong sense of integrity and a positive attitude.
