JOB DETAILS:

The Incumbent is expected to provide a consistent and high quality technical support in relation to community mobilization activities. The position involves training and monitoring of community health workers, Community Health Extension Workers and hygiene promoters with frequent trips to the project sites and organize hygiene promotion. As part of the assignment the position holder is expected to identify, design and develop communication materials and manuals on appropriate hygiene promotion, health promotion and diseases prevention, and conduct a rapid base line survey and need assessment. S/he is expected to liaise with communities, local authorities and other agencies regularly to ensure coordination and effective implementation activities and participate on meeting regarding MNCHN and WASH; collect data and statistics concerning issues that relates with health and WASH and prepare and submit on weekly/monthly basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the development and the implementation of a COVID-19 responsive social behaviour change communication strategy and framework.
• Using the social behavior change strategy, mobilize the community around the promotion of key hygiene messages using appropriate inter-personal, mass media and digital approaches, materials and methods.
• Organize community groups, generate community resources and educate them on sustainable community involvement in the COVID-19 hygiene promotion interventions, particularly, house-hold hygiene promotion.
• Conduct an assessment of community structures, local service providers, peer educators and social mobilizers who can assist the incumbent to implement wide ranging community mobilization activities in COVID-19 control, prevention and management.
• Coordinate with project coordinator to ensure consistent community mobilization in the target areas.
• Provide quality control for the Social Behaviour Change Communication interventions.
• Participate in development of knowledge products to promote learning on SBCC in a pandemic emergency response.
• Provide technical input in development and implementation of SBCC capacity building interventions at national and county levels.
• Participate in support supervision activities individually and in collaboration with national and county MOH stakeholders.
• Identify new program opportunities through rapid assessments and proposal development inputs and writing as needed.
• Provide technical support in the development and writing of new concepts and proposals for fundraising.
• Work closely with the M&E officer in provision of weekly updates highlighting potential bottlenecks and lessons learnt.
• Regularly assess and provide feedback and recommendations on the quality of SBCC programs and interventions.

Basic Qualifications, Training and Experience

• Bachelors’ Degree in Social Sciences/Public Health/Nursing or any other related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience.
• Knowledge, training and experience in WASH and community mobilization/SBCC
• Knowledge on and experience working through Community Health structure
• Demonstrated skills in program planning, implementation and monitoring.
• Demonstrated skills in peer group training, Training of Trainers and development of training materials.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
