Job Description


The Public Health Specialist will twin with the respective District Health Officers to build the capacity of the district staff; together they will monitor and supervise service delivery; and provide overall technical support to the district teams. S/he will ensure adherence to HTS protocols to identify HIV positive clients (1st 95); that all identified HIV positive clients are linked to and initiated on ART (2nd 95); coordinate implementation of care and treatment, DSDM for HTS and care; coordinate HSS activities with the DHO and the Project Manager; and ensure quality and appropriate services are delivered to improve retention of clients in care and viral suppression (3rd 95). He will assume the overall leadership of the cluster field teams.

Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
  • ·      MB ChB and registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council·      Being dynamic, Persuasive & convincing, self- motivated and able to demonstrate high initiative.·      Experience as a supervisor in clinic or hospital-based services. ·      Knowledge of community based health care and advocacy
  • ·      Knowledge of district health systems and protocols
  • ·      Knowledge of HIV/TB and ART
  • ·      Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • ·      Personal competencies in team building and good communication skills.
  • 5 Years Relevant Experience
