About US:

The Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) is established under the PPDA Act No.1 of 2003 to develop standards and regulate procurement and disposal practices in respect of all Procuring and Disposing Entities which include Central

Government Ministries and Departments, Local Governments, State Enterprises, Constitutional and Statutory Bodies and post primary training institutions.

Job summary:

To develop and implement the communication and public relations system for PPDA in alignment to the authority’s strategy and Mandate for effective and efficient delivery of PPDA’s strategic intent.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To lead the development, roll out and monitoring of a strategic communications plan for PPDA which will enable key messages to be clearly and consistently communicated and PPDAs visibility enhanced.
  • To oversee the development and implementation of a communications and public relations strategy that will support the accomplishment of PPDA’s vision and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a functional communications System as a platform for standardization of communications and strengthen the communication across the authority that will ensure positive impact on internal and external stakeholders
  • Utilisation of PPDA’s M & E and Research information for the generation of relevant messages contributing to the existence of an exciting and informative online presence through highly available Website and Social Media platform to strengthen PPDA’s visibility and organisational learning opportunities.
  • To lead the communication’s unit in a manner that empowers them to deliver excellent customer service and high standards of services.
  • Develop and promote the Authority’s corporate image and identity
  • Identify the Authority’s audiences and determine the best way to reach them
  • Write press releases and prepare information for the media
  • Develop the Authority’s advertising and promotion programs
  • Supervise the Public Relations unit staff

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Honours degree in Public Relations, Mass Communication, Marketing, Journalism, or related disciplines.
  • Masters degree in any of the above fields
  • Member of PRAU
  • At least five years’ experience in a Communications role with at least three (3) leading a team.
  • Previous experience in developing web and social media content
  • Experience in Marketing (Brand management and awareness)
