Job Description


POSITION: Quality Supervisor
REPORTS TO: Quality Manager
DEPARTMENT: Operations
LOCATION: Mukono

JOB SUMMARY
The job-holder is responsible for setting up and maintaining quality standards and facilitating ISO 22000 standards for Grain and Fertilizer operations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise and direct the Quality team to enforce Good Manufacturing Practices and Quality Procedures in order to meet Grainpulse product quality standards.
• Review Production Batch Records and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record-keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, testing, sampling, and sanitation activities.
• Perform audit quality control of raw materials, packaging components, labels, and finished products to ensure compliance with established specifications and regulatory standards.
• Follow up with implemented programs (GMPs, Good Hygiene Practices, HACCP, Allergen Control, Sanitation, Pest Control, Equipment Calibration, UNBS and ISO 2200:2018 Certification as well as customer requirements to ensure compliance
• Test samples from finished products, raw materials, and packaging components are appropriately and accurately done in time and able to interpret results
• Carry out root cause analysis and implement corrective measures to prevent occurrence (including non-compliance and customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.
• Make proactive recommendations and offer/present solutions to improve FSMS.
• Strict adherence to policies, operating procedures, quality systems and programs involving testing, evaluation, inspection, and technical support to meet product quality standards.
• Lead all regulatory, third-party, and customer audits, inspections, and corrective action responses.
• Clear communication of performance goals to the Quality team

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
• The ideal candidate must possess a first degree in Food Science and Technology and at least 3 years of working experience in quality management in a busy food industry, preferably grain handling and milling.
• Furthermore, the ideal candidate must be good in record keeping and documentation. He or she must be able to interpret chemical, microbiological and physical results and carry out data analysis. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interacting with third parties on training and compliance matters.
• In addition, the ideal candidate must possess leadership, good planning, communication and decision-making skills.
