Diagnose, interpret and treat injuries/diseases using medical imaging procedures such as X-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasound

Key Result Areas
The post holder is required to:–
• Performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging procedures
• Reviewing and transmitting images and information using picture archiving and communications systems (PACS)
• Communicating examination results and diagnostic information to referring physicians, patients, and families
• Collaborating with referring physicians on treatment plans
• Providing expertise in choosing the most suitable imaging techniques
• Performing interventional procedures, such as biopsies and drain placements
• Conducting research to improve the diagnosis and treatment of diseases
• Work alongside radiographers and other professionals in administering treatment
• Provide consults to patients’ primary doctors on results of imaging and recommend courses of treatment or suggest that additional images be taken
• Operate the machinery used to collect these images and occasionally monitor imaging sessions run by the radiographers
• Administer nuclear medicine, oncology, or other radiation techniques to treat patients with illnesses or diseases

Knowledge/Qualifications and Experience
• Master of Medicine in Radiology
• Must be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioner’s Council
• At least (3) three years experience
