Job Description
To provide clinical care and treatment services to research/study participants as well as general clinic patients and their care takers in the line with the research/study protocols and Baylor Uganda treatment policy respectively
Overall Responsibilities
1. Screen and enroll eligible study participants and complete the Clinical Reference Forms in a timely manner.
2. Update the electronic medical records system (EMR) with clinical information for every study participant.
3. Conduct routine health evaluation/ clinical assessment and provide adequate individualized care and treatment to study participants in line with Baylor Uganda Clinical Policies and study protocols.
4. Monitor adverse events, treatment response and disease progression for study participants and provide appropriate management including referral where necessary, in line with Baylor Uganda Clinical Policies, SOPs, and study protocol.
5. Correct errors in documentation following the study QC activities.
6. Provide appropriate advice, health education and counseling to patients and their caregivers in line with Baylor Uganda Clinical Policies and SOPs.
7. Prepare and submit periodic progress reports to the key stakeholders in line with the medical care department and study requirements.
8. Conduct routine health evaluation/ clinical assessment and provide adequate individualized care and treatment to general clinic patients in line with Baylor Uganda Clinical Policies.
9. Prepare and present at case conferences, radiology sessions, mortality audit and organizational continued medical education sessions as per clinicians’ schedule to promote in continuous professional development in line with Baylor Uganda Clinical Policies and SOPs.
10. Perform ongoing operational research; write out relevant abstracts for presentation to local and international conferences, as well as publishing such findings in line with the Baylor Uganda Research standards operating procedures.
11. Perform outpatient clinical procedures on patients such as tissue biopsies, spinal taps, phlebotomy (femoral taps where necessary) whenever called upon for assistance.
12. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
The job holder should have:
1) A Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery degree or equivalent from a recognized institution and must be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
2) At least two years of experience in clinical research
3) At least two years of experience in Pediatric and Adolescent HIV/AIDS treatment and care.
4) Additional training/short courses in Pediatric HIV care and management will be of added advantage. 5) Have Key personal competences in team and communication skills, must be dynamic, Persuasive
&convincing, self- motivated and able to demonstrate high initiative.
