Job Title: Senior Manager Financial Operations
Reporting to: Chief Finance Officer
Division – Finance

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
Managing, building and directing the Finance Operations team, responsible for the provision of accurate and high-quality financial information for the senior management team, the board and external stakeholders to support decision making, business planning and compliance throughout the organisation.
Direct and oversee the activities of accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial reporting and stock accounting; with an objective of ensuring adherence to defined policies, procedures and controls.

Main Job Functions:
• Ensure effective implementation of divisional strategy by means of providing direction, structure, business plans and support in line with the company wide strategy
• Lead, develop and motivate the Finance Operations team through coaching and support to help achieve performance expectations
• Manage all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the Finance Operations team.
• Review and take responsibility for key financial controls within all functional areas managed.
• Promote finance policies and work with the business to ensure solutions are always achieved within policy constraints.
• Oversee the statutory interim and annual audits and ensure compliance to IFRS and MTN Group Financial Policies.
• Resolve all statutory audit items (finance) and report monthly on all statutory audit Items
• Oversee the production of monthly reporting and analyse the key performance areas.
• Responsible for general financial reporting and accounting, stock accounting, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
• Seek to automate manual controls, processes and instil best practice, as well as maximise benefits realisation from the existing ERP (Oracle)
• Manage decision making with respect to issues that require professional judgment/ exception scenarios
• Coordinate with stakeholders across divisions to implement processes in alignment with MTN policies
• Liaise with Group for any localisations of finance policies and processes.
• Contribute to the strategic and business planning process.
• Ensure skill transfer for staff development, motivation, and business continuity
• To undertake any tasks as assigned by the Chief Finance Officer from time to time.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in a finance and or relevant field
• Professional qualification (ACCA or/and CPA)

Experience:
• Over 6 year’s financial accounting/management and business control experience in a busy competitive multinational environment.
• 3 – 5 years’ experience within a telecommunication environment recommended
• Experience in continuous improvements through the implementation of best practices (Finance).
• Experience in finance leading practices and trends and ability to generate practical solutions for complex conceptual and strategic problems.
• Sound business understanding as well as knowledge of core business processes.

• Presentation and communications skills both verbal and written
• Analysis and data interpretation skills
• Conflict resolution and ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity in the workplace
• Problem solving and ability to influence the teams and align them to the company strategic direction
• Knowledge and understanding of risk, control and auditing methodologies.
• Knowledge of ERP (preferrable Oracle), and a clear understanding of financial accounting processes which may include suggesting improvements.
• Thorough understanding and practical applicability of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and ability to share this knowledge with the wider finance teams
• He/ she must be an accountable, adaptable, and agile leader.
• He/she should be innovative, inquisitive and culturally aware
• He/she should have a can-do spirit and have the ability to work well with cross functional teams.
