Job Description


The Senior Manager, will have overall responsibility for leading and managing the Resource Mobilization function: This area of responsibility will include developing and sustaining effective Resource Mobilization systems and practices leading up to effective, high quality capture of new business. Key

Responsibilities:
• The senior Manager will have responsibility for aspects of the Resource Mobilization function at IDI with responsibilities including but not necessarily limited to the following:
• Establish resource mobilization infrastructure including a system for tracking all opportunities, stimulating go/no go discussions, establishing a response team and tracking the progress of all on going resource mobilization initiatives (including multilateral, bilateral foundation and private organisation and individuals; developing a resource mobilization contact list.
• Convene regular meetings (at least monthly) with the HoD SPD, ED and any other staff as appropriate for ongoing resource mobilization resource mobilisation activity review.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic fundraising strategy to secure corporate and foundation contributions.
• Work with IDI senior management to identify, cultivate and solicit major funder prospects; facilitate the development of relationships with funders through coordinate and conducting presentation, personal meetings, regular communications, or arranging for meetings between IDI management and funders representatives
• In conjunction with the HoD, SPD and the IDI Grants Office and with appropriate subject matter experts; drafts and oversee the development of funding proposals to help ensure proper submission; track and meet grant submission and reporting deadlines
• Coordinate the gathering of information (budgets, materials, evaluation reports etc) to support proposals
• Provide fundraising reports; specifically provide data for the quarterly KPIs related to resource mobilization and evaluate progress toward resource mobilization goals.
• Manage donor acknowledgment including thank you notes and phone calls
• Assist with the design and development of web based resource mobilization efforts including the ‘donations’ content of the IDI website and coordination of social media efforts in support of IDI resource mobilization
• Develop and execute pitches and strategies to reach funder segments, including creating supporting materials such as funding proposals
• Effectively link donor interests with the organization’s strategic and programmatic priorities
• Help organise special fundraising and PR events such as the Red Ribbon Ball
• Leadership, general management and development of the Institutional strategic information portfolio including Key Performance Indicators for IDI (and other periodic or ad hoc reports) utilisable for resource mobilization and other key platforms such as IDI Board.
• Support and technical backstopping for all strategic and administrative information components of IDI proposals, including the collection, analysis and use of program and institutional data for report generation, program improvement and dissemination of lessons learnt/best practices.
• Any other resource mobilization and strategic information related duties requested in support of senior staff and/or specified by the IDI Head of Strategic Planning and Development.

Qualifications and Experience:
• A Master’s degree in either health or social/behavior sciences or statistics with an emphasis on biostatics and/or epidemiology and /or demography or related field. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• At least 2 years previous experience in in resource mobilization in the NGO sector
• Strong coordination, writing and presentation skills.
• Strong computer skills in at least word, power point, spreadsheets and database programmes.
• Be capable of working individually and in a team environment.
• Ability to work with partners and other leadership to achieve program objectives in the area.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Should be fluent in oral and written English.
• Should be a highly motivated person and should be able to work under a high workload;
• Flexibility to work long hours, which may occasionally extend beyond normal working hours in order to complete critical tasks.
