Job Description


On behalf of our Client in the Extractives sector, we are looking for a competent Senior Social Site Supervisor to join our Team at our Clients premises on Site in their Social Affairs Department. The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional able to undertake a variety of assigned tasks and work diligently under pressure.

Main Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Social Affairs, the job holder will be responsible for the following tasks;
• Supervise the team of Community Tourism Liaison Officers (CTLOs), Grievance Officer, Community & Livelihood Development Officers through the respective Community Tourism Supervisor by Geographical or operational areas.
• Ensure the teams are undertaking the appropriate Stakeholder engagements to build beneficial relationships.
• Support and guarantee the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) and any other survey teams gain entry in order to work within the communities.
• Monitor the implementation of the social impact management plans by project teams and contractors.
• Identify unanticipated risks, their impact to the Company’s image, staff and assets and reporting these risks to the Company’s Head of Social Affairs through the Responsible for Safety on Site (RSES) and the Social Affairs Coordinator
• Make sure all grievances being handled by the CTLOs are handled and adequately closed.
• Handle other emerging issues and concerns without having to defer minor issues to Kampala
• Office
• Understand the social clauses in contractors and subcontractors’ contracts & monitor relations between the Company’s contractors/sub-contractors and local communities
• Provide support to contractors with community recruitment for unskilled and semi-skilled jobs
• Ensure necessary monitoring, reporting and feedback of activities through daily, weekly, monthly reports on the Company’s social performance through identifying risk and opportunities and track commitments
• Monitor and report on compliance with the social clauses of contracts, as well as the overall standards of the Company including Company’s Code of Conduct, Ethics charter, and HSEQ Charter.

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Anthropology, Human Resources or equivalent
• Minimum 15 years’ experience working in Rural communities on an Oil and Gas project with at least 10 years in a supervisory role.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good relations with a wide range of stake holders including local communities, Non-Governmental organizations etc.
• Good supervisory, negotiation and conflict Management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project)
