Job Description


  • Manage the Vivo Energy Uganda Limited transport operation to the required HSSE standards and contractual HSSE requirements, maintaining high levels of HSSE discipline for transport activities. Ensure that Haulier, Journey, Vehicle and Driver management requirements are implemented in detail.
  • Optimize primary transport cost by constantly driving, monitoring and reviewing the factors that influence unit and overall transport costs (rail/ pipeline-road combinations, loading/dispatch locations, freight model and unit rates, etc)
  • Manage scheduling activities for Vivo Energy Uganda Limited to achieve vehicle utilization targets, transport unit cost targets, Customer SLA targets and OT/OTIF Targets.
  • Ensure procedures, requirements and good practices are observed for safe, timely and efficiently product delivery to Customers (fleet availability, correct documentation, efficient planning / schedule, confirmation of all trips as delivered and closed, etc)
  • Expeditiously resolve and close any issues and complaints (quality, quantity, timeliness, longer than expected in transit, accident / theft / loss recoveries, etc) relating to product transportation, effecting required remedial action (disciplinary, cost recovery, procedures amendment, reporting, etc).
  • Regularly monitor, report and where required, take corrective action on transport performance / KPIs and cost trends.
  • Keep monitoring operations expenditure against budget particularly primary/secondary distribution. Also monitor and manage other non-transport opex.
  • Manage accuracy and timeliness of payments to Hauliers for product haulage. Also ensure no overdues on Hauliers’ loss recovery accounts.
  • Coordinate the management of Transport-related emergencies and incidents for Vivo Energy Uganda Transport activities (including those in Kenya for Uganda product), managing the response and proposing any further action required to mitigate incident consequences or escalation of incident.
  • Coordinate Incident investigations, Reporting, Reviews and implementation of required Remedial Action.
  • Coordinate contract management review exercises, haulier assessments, Vivo Energy audits and reviews that cover Uganda transport within in their scope. Drive closure of remedial action resulting from such audits, assessments and reviews.
  • Contribute to miscellaneous activities that require data provision, analysis and evaluation (annual T&R planning cycle, transport planning and evaluation, fleet capacity and performance reviews, haulier performance reviews, driver performance reviews, tariff reviews, etc).
  • Implement the staff performance requirements for reportees (Job Description reviews, Goals Settings and Performance Reviews for mid and final year, Staff Training needs evaluation and implementation, Individual Development Plans, Leave and Relief management, staff Coaching and Support)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Economics or related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience in Distribution at a Managerial level.
  • Experience with Road Transport is an added advantage,
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate with people at all levels within and outside the department.
