Job Description


Job Summary
Supervise implementation and perform Document Verification Unit activities to ensure that staff comply with regulations, standard operating procedures and to reduce UR’S risk exposure to penalties.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Ensure that staff verify the authenticity of travel documents, including passports, visas, permits, health certificates, residence cards, air tickets, etc. for all departing passengers, both at check-in and at the boarding gates using tools provided by the company at all times to ensure zero fines for airlines.
  • Intercept passengers with fraudulent documents, consult airline representatives, take photographs, and hand over suspected fraudulent passengers to Passenger Services Coordinator, together with the documents. Complete an intercept form before departure of a specific flight.
  • Ensure that Safeguard and protect airline stationery by clearing counters of baggage tags, boarding passes, etc. before and after handling of the flights.
  • Direct passengers to check-in counters.
  • Attend briefings with clients and supervisors, as required.
  • Follow guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures and adhere to systems in place.
  • Health & Safety Responsibilities:
    • Comply and adhere to the standard operating procedures, circulars, directives, bulletins, instructions, and notices.
    • Report workplace hazards and near misses to immediate supervisors and quality department
    • Submit hazard/ near miss- occurrence report or a confidential report as required.
    • Supports as and when internal and or external Safety and quality audits occur.
    • Provide inputs during risk assessment process as applicable, support and participate Safety investigations as and when occur.
    • Follow and adhere to PPE compliances at all time
  • Attend departmental and supervisory meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain good working relations with CAA and Immigrations operational officials and liaise with them to solve any problems affecting operational functions that may require their intervention.
  • Participate in the training and mentoring of new staff; counsel and coach shift staff to close any identified performance gaps.
  • Participate in the performance management of staff.
  • Participate in recruitment of staff in the Passenger Services Department.
  • Carry out checks of staff working tools and feedback devices while on duty to ensure serviceability and effectiveness.
  • Monitor safety of the work environment and ensure all staff make full use of safety gear.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications (knowledge, skills, experience)
University Degree or equivalent and 2 years’ experience in document verification
Relevant experience with an airline or GHA as a Check-in Agent.
