The National Animal Genetic Resources Centre and Data Bank (NAGRC&DB) is a semi-autonomous agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries mandated to take a leading role in establishing a comprehensive National Animal Breeding Programme in Uganda. The agency wishes to recruit the following;

Reporting To: Manager – Assisted Reproductive Technologies
Overall Job Purpose:
To undertake animal breeding through Assisted Reproductive Technologies
Age Limit: 25-45 Years

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in field activities for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ARTs) including ;-
• The delivery of inputs and implementation of on-station and field-oriented MOET services (in cattle and goats)
• The organization of inputs and conducting of on-station and field-oriented Multiple
• Ovulation and Embryo transfer interventions (in cattle and Goats) iii. Planning, organizing and overseeing the implementation of the routine supervision and evaluation of Animal Reproductive activities on all NAGRC&DB center farms and ranches with special emphasis to Pregnancy Diagnosis (PD) and Non- Pregnancy
• Diagnosis (N-PD) in cattle iv. Organizing and technical backstopping of the Induction and synchronization interventions on-station (all NAGRC&DB animal centers) and on-farm under the Community Breeding Program
• Training programs for ARTs technicians and the Do It Yourself (DIY) provided for in the Animal Breeding Act, 2001and the attendant Regulations.
• The careful evaluation and coordinating the introduction of any new ART recognized for its potential to increase production and productivity of the livestock sub-sector.
• The collection of Germplasm (oocytes, embryos) for both the National and Regional Gene banks for conservation.
• Work with the relevant NAGRC&DB and other stakeholders to conduct participatory Monitoring of ARTs’ implantation programs with particular emphasis to ARTsinterventions in the community Breeding programs
• Development of technical manuals, training manuals and curricular for training in the various areas of specialization for the different reproductive technologies
• Support impact evaluation studies with the utilization of the ARTS and the dissemination/ sharing of results
• Liaising with relevant technical and support units whenever assignments and tasks are required to deliver results xii. Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisors.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS
• A degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognized institution.
• A certificate in Artificial Insemination is prerequisite
• Should be registered by the Uganda Veterinary Board
• Should have good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Working experience as a Veterinarian of at least two (02) years from a reputable organization.
